Can't we get along
The book Five People You Meet in Heaven has a great message, to me the best message of any book I have ever read. The message of this amazing book is that everything we do in life, as Isaac Newton said, every action in life has an equal opposite reaction. We need to learn that everything we do could affect someone else’s life and could change or even as depicted in the book end someone’s life. We need to, as people, live life better and conduct ourselves as better people; not just with people were close with us but with everyone.
Five People You Meet In Heaven......Birthdays
While Mitch Albom tells he story of his journey through heaven, there are side stories about Eddie’s, the main character in the book, birthday parties. The stories go from when he is very young to when he gets old. Each one starts with the title, Its Eddie’s Birthday, and it tells a little bit about that day. Its never a happy story usually it usually has a little bit of good and a little bit of bad taste as well. It shows you that even a great day cold be spoiled by a stupid mistake or a stupid person. You’ll see what I mean when you read the book.
Have a Little Faith......Mitch's Childhood
As well as telling the story of Henry and the present story he also tells the story about his life growing up with the “Reb”, which is the nick- name for the rabbi that he is doing the eulogy for. He calls him the “Reb” because when he was a child that is what they would call him; he was tall, tough looking, and was down right scary to him as a child. He at this point in his life can’t believe how much has changed; The “Reb” is a completely different person. Now being much older, the “Reb” is much less of an opposing force. Though I haven’t finished the book yet, it’s obvious that through out the book he learns more about the “Reb” and more about himself then he ever knew. I cant wait to see what happens in the end.
Have a little Faith....Henry's story
As I mentioned in the last post, Mitch Albom while describing his old life also tells the story about a boy named Henry. Henry Grow up around the same time as Mitch did, but his life is much different. Henry grow up in a much poorer life style then Mitch, he also ways wanted his father to love him, which you hope he did, but he was a very tough man; but he was often tender with him when he got home. When Henry turned 14 years old his father died of an illness that he had been fighting for years. Though they didn’t have the money for it they all wore suits, even though they had no money for them. He was crushed, and with all the pain inside of him, hardened but life, he made a decision that he would take what he wanted. Later in life, he gets into trouble and becomes friends with the wrong people, later he is sent to jail for something he didn’t do at all. If he kept his ego in check the police would have never arrested him, but it’s to late now. I hope that Henry will leave a changed man and will be a better person.
