Jumping between books.

Lately I have had a hard time finding a good independent reading book for my English class. This “readers” block as I call it has been going on since I finished the book “The Road”. I don’t understand why but that’s the way it’s been; after that book I tried to read “Sharpe’s Siege” it’s a very old book that quite frankly was extremely boring. The problem with me dropping the book was that fact that I had spent so much time on it. I at first figured if I kept reading it, it would get better…It didn’t. Anyways I then tried to read “The Godfather’s Revenge” I’m a huge fan of the movies so I figured it had to be good. I soon realized that it was terrible. It was not written by the guy who wrote the original book and it had nothing to do with the original story at all. I have finally found the right book. The book I’m reading now is called “The Last Nazi” All that I have gotten from the book so far is that it’s about an investigation of a former Nazi guard who is a suspect in a few murder Crimes....hopefully this book doesn’t become a BUST!!

And Then Were None.......Finally Done

I have just finished reading the book And Then There Were None , I have to say that personally I didn't really like this book at all. I mean i liked the story line, which is a murder mystery on a mysterious Island, but the way she wrote it made it a very slow pace book. I need to have a fast pace book and if it isn't then it needs to have interesting things going on to keep me reading it. When nothing interesting was happening I was sooo bored of it i wanted to throw it away, but since i heard it was a classic and that the ending would be worth the wait i reluctantly kept reading it. I have to say though as much as i have been talking the book down, the ending was very interesting and very out of no where, i feel the explanation of the Judge being the killer was at first confusing, but after i looked at it a couple of times it made sense. I might not personally like the book as a whole, many people have more patience then me.

Scorpions

Scorpions is another great novel by Walter Dean Myers. In this book Jamal a young boy lives in the city with his mother and sister Sassy, his brother Randy is currently serving time in Jail for killing someone in a bank robbery, Randy is involved with a street gang called the Scorpions. They are viscous gang that is based on lots of violence, Jamal is approached by his brothers old friend who tells him that he is next in line to take over the gang. Though he is very hesitant at first, he has to do it to get some money. His brothers appeal cost two thousand dollars and if the can't come up with the money he might go to jail for the rest of his life.....I found the book to be full of action and drama, it is definitely a great read.

Go Ask Alice by Anonymous

The book Go Ask Alice by Anonymous is one of my new favorite books ever. I have read biographies before but none were like this; in this book you never learn the girl’s name. Anyway this young woman lives a normal life until she has to move. In her new home town she makes a new friend with a girl who invites her to a party. At the party someone slips LSD in her drink, after that one sip it seems like her whole life becomes all about drugs and she becomes despite to get them. In the spirit of not ruining the ending for you ill just end this blog with saying that this book is awesome in every sense of the word. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Cut by Patricia Mccormick

The book Cut by Patricia Mccormick is to me a depressing book. Usually I try to veer away from reading books like these because of how sad it is. It’s about a girl named Callie who it seems lives a normal life. At home though it’s a bad situation, her brother who a serious asthma condition that causes him to have sever attacks because of it. She blamed herself for the attacks and would cut herself to get rid of the pain. She would do this when her parents were asleep. Before she knew it she was caught and sent to Sea Pines the correctional Facility for girls were she had the worst time of her life. I don’t want to give t much away because that would ruin the “fun” of reading the book at all. Though for me it is a tough read I think others will enjoy this book.

The Wall....The Nazi take over

I left of last time with only knowing what was going to happen because of the back of the book. I only understood that the fought against Nazi tyranny in their own town. As I read it was clear that the Nazis weren’t even there, but they still were affecting the people psychologically. Well this was only true for some though. It wasn’t until the Nazis were telling all the people to leave there homes, they also told them that they can no longer work at stores or go to public school. The people of the town don’t know what to do, and I’m curios what is going to make the people snap enough to revolt against the Nazis; I personally can’t wait.

The Wall

The new independent reading book that I decided to read is a play call “The Wall” by Millard Lampell. This book is set during the Second World War; it’s about Jewish hardships in a town named Warsaw. I haven’t gotten far enough in the play to really get a feel of were its going; I’m only on page 20 after all. Anyway I think that this is going to be an interesting story, many have told me that this play is great but because they didn’t want to ruin the ending for me they didn't say much else. I cant wait to see how it ends.
